Trinity preschoolers are ‘singin’ in the rain’

For an end-of-the-year celebration the students of Trinity Preschool were dressed for rainy weather, but there was not a cloud around during the performance of “Singing in the Rain.” It was the annual celebration of the culmination of a wonderful year of preschool. The children sang classic songs about rainy weather before concluding with singing “You Are My Sunshine” for their families, friends and staff of Trinity Preschool and Trinity United Methodist Church.

LSMSA Banquet recognizes FSP members

Natchitoches — Members of the Future Scientist Program at the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts were recognized during the eighth annual banquet held Saturday, April 12, at the National Center for Preservation Technology and Training.
Seventeen seniors completed FSP and will receive an Excellence in Science award at the senior recognition ceremony. This is the highest honor the faculty of the Department of Science can bestow on an LSMSA student. Students wilfl receive a medal to wear at graduation.

LSMSA students earn awards in foreign language events

Natchitoches — Faculty members of the Department of Foreign Languages at the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts recognized students who placed in various foreign language events held throughout the spring semester.
David Wood, principal lecturer of French, recognized students who participated in the National French Contest, district literary rally and the Foreign Language Festival.

Funeral services for Dorothy Bennett Williams, age 64, of Choudrant, LA will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Ruston, LA. Officiating the service will be Bro. Jimmy Eppinette and Bro. Larry Emory. Interment will follow at Sibley Cemetery near Choudrant, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, LA.

Mrs. Williams was born May 9, 1950 and passed away May 27, 2014 following a brief illness.
Mrs. Williams was a member of Longstraw Baptist Church.

Thomas L. Whitten

Thomas L. Whitten, age 70, of West Monroe passed away on May 27, 2014. He is survived by three sons: Mr. and Mrs. Tobin B. Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Paul K. Jones, and Mr. and Mrs. Jason H. Jones; 7 grandchildren: special grandchildren which he loved so very much: Whitney C. Harger, Jacob K. Jones, and Aaron Matthew Jones; 3 great grandchildren; and numerous other friends.

Mr. Whitten was a United Sates Navy Veteran. A memorial service for Mr. Whitten will be held at a later date.
