Storms can be beautiful, too

My wife thinks I’m crazy sometimes.
She may be right, but I can’t help myself.
You see, ever since I was a young child, I’ve always been fascinated by storms.
Now don’t get me wrong. I completely understand how dangerous a big storm can be, and I don’t go dancing out in the open holding a lighting rod.
But I sure do like to watch.
That was the case late Friday night (that faded into early Saturday morning) when a line of strong thunderstorms pushed through the area.

Football and fashion collided at Squire Creek Country Club Thursday, scoring a big win for the Boys and Girls Clubs of North Central Louisiana in the process.
Louisiana Tech’s football program sponsored its fourth annual Pigskins and Pearls event, with Jennifer Holtz taking the original idea organized by Kate Dykes, wife of former Louisiana Tech football coach Sonny Dykes, and running with it as she and her husband, new Tech football coach Skip Holtz, talked a little football with Tech’s female football fans.

Passionate pursuits

Some people drudge through their morning routine mentally preparing themselves for another day of a job they tolerate. Byron Miller, however, is passionate about education.
“I think (education) was something that I felt that I’m naturally gifted towards,” Miller said. “I like teaching. My family sometimes laments that. You can never say something in a short brief way, got to explain everything. My mom was an educator, several of my family members are educators, so I was comfortable and familiar with that. But, I also, always had a positive view of education both in high school and college. Learning is something I enjoy doing, it’s not something that is laborious and something I just want to get done. I really enjoy it. So, it was very natural to pursue that.”
