LINCOLN PARISH Fire Protection District No. 1 Board of Commissioners met in regular session, Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at 6:00 p.m., at Lincoln Parish Fire Protection District No. 1 Administrative Office, Dubach, Louisiana, with the following members present: Ray Robinson, Layne Parnell, Mike Fulton, John Barnett, Richard Aillet, and Bart Dugdale.
Absent: Ricky Durrett.
The invocation was given by Mike Fulton.
A motion was made by Ray Robinson, and seconded by Bart Dugdale, to approve the agenda as presented. The motion carried with the following votes:

Barthel, Morton to exchange vows

Mr. Francis Victor Jordan II of Trio Plantation in Rayville, announces the forthcoming wedding of his granddaughter Mary Elizabeth Barthel to Mr. William Cody Morton.
The family wedding will be held at The Church of the Redeemer in Oak Ridge at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 26.
This special day was chosen to honor the bride’s maternal grandmother, Mrs. Mary Sue Gryder Jordan, as it was her birthday.
The bride is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Farris Barthel Jr., (née Helen Elizabeth Jordan). Her paternal grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. William Farris Barthel Sr.

Artwork shows life before mechanization

One of Louisiana’s most famous artists died in 1988 at the age of 101, but her legacy lives on through her paintings.
Doug Gitter, an artist from Metairie, has spent the past four years working on reproducing some of Clementine Hunter’s artwork to make it affordable for everyday people.
Gitter said a desire to take artwork which was once very affordable and make it affordable again led him to create these hand-painted ceramics, based on the works of Hunter, so that others could enjoy a piece of American history.
