Exactly what does Dow 15,000 mean for you?

in
Fallin, Randy.jpg

This month, the Dow Jones Industrial Average hit a milestone, when, for the first time, it closed above 15,000. Smart investing often involves choosing the right assets to meet your specific needs. It can also involve holding those investments in the right types of accounts — particularly when it comes to retirement savings.
When managing your retirement savings, aim for tax efficiency, recommends Bev Doolin, IRA product manager at Wells Fargo Advisors. “And make sure you involve your tax professional as well as your financial advisor in assessing the tax implications of any investing strategy you’re considering.”

Butch Smart epitomized human spirit

in
Davis, OK.jpg

Thin as a javelin and weighing no more than a paperweight, Brian Lee “Butch” Smart would have been the last person you would have thought would give cancer a run for its money.
When he discovered that he had the unwavering disease a dozen years ago, I can picture him looking the “Big C” squarely in the eyes and in that slow-as-dripping-honey Southern drawl of his saying something such as, “Well ........... here I am, give me your best shot.”
