HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The instant Chrisstasia Walter set foot on Louisiana Tech University’s campus, the Hutchinson Community College sophomore knew she found her next school. Time to thank our protectors

Who could be more important than those who protect us?
We have the opportunity to honor those people this weekend as National Police Week wraps up today and National Armed Forces Week is celebrated Saturday.
Recent events have shown just how important our law enforcement officials are, as one officer lost his life during the manhunt for the marathon bombing suspects.
National Police Week ceremonies date back to 1962 when President John Kennedy signed a proclamation making May 15 Peace Officers Memorial Day. Now the entire week is known as Police Week.
