Local WTU chapter knocks it out of park again

A group of folks in north central Louisiana has made a name for itself not only here in this part of the country; they’re turning heads across the nation, especially up in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.
This is where headquarters for Whitetails Unlimited is located and for the past two years, the founder and CEO of WTU has made his way south to attend the annual banquet the local chapter holds to present special awards for outstanding work.

Gun raffle to be held

in

The Downsville Community Charter School FFA is holding a 30 Guns in 30 Days raffle.
A $30 donation will enter each ticker buyer a chance to win a gun a day.
All proceeds will benefit the FFA General Fund to provide academic, technology and maintenance needs within the FFA building.
One ticket will be drawn each day from Sept. 1 - Sept. 30.
Winning tickets will be re-entered to the raffle, meaning each ticket represents a chance to win 30 guns.
At no time will Downsville Community Charter take possession of any of the firearms involved in the raffle.

Online training for trappers

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has partnered with the Louisiana Trappers and Alligator Hunters Association and the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies to provide a free, voluntary online trapper education course found at: https://conservationlearning.org/login/index.php.
This course covers important topics such as Louisiana trapping regulations, best management practices, and trapping safety.

Bill and J-Nell Davis Celebrate Golden Anniversary

Bill and J-Nell celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, August 19, 2017 with a family dinner at Mountain Harbor Resort, Mt. Ida, Arkansas. They were married on Saturday, August 19, 1967 at Baptist Temple Church, Alexandria, Louisiana.
They have 3 sons, Chris (Christie), Brian (Beth) and Matt (Katelyn) and 5 grandchildren: Brandon, Savannah, Alexis, Madeline and Andy.

Local couple celebrates diamond anniversary

James and Jessie Mae Frazier are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. They were married on Aug. 17, 1957 at Temple Baptist Church. They are both 1959 graduates of Louisiana Tech University. James Frazier worked for T.L. James and Co. for 40 years. Jessie Mae Frazier taught first grade at Hillcrest and Cedar Creek schools for 30 years. They have two sons, Jim and wife Karen, and Tom and wife Melody. Their grandchildren are Randi and Josh Anderson, Ross Frazier, Andrew and Jane Frazier and Travis and Lauren Frazier.

John Henry Amaden

Joe Henry Amaden, age 66, passed away August 17, 2017. He is survived by his wife Carolyn Amaden of the home; his mother Nell Amaden and brother, Howard (Linda) Amaden of Lonoke, AR; son, Heath (Tiffany) Amaden of Brandon, MS, daughter-in-law, Holly Amaden of Jacksonville, AR; grandchildren, Claudia Amaden of Jacksonville, AR and Charlotte Amaden of Brandon, MS.; mother-in-law Berly Gray of West Monroe, LA. Preceding in death are his father C.H. Amaden, sister, Ginger Amaden Putnam, son Brian Amaden, and father-in-law Leroy Gray.
