G-Men top Tougaloo, 105-90

in

Grambling State moved to 3-0 at home this season Monday night as the Tiger defeated Tougaloo College 105-90 at the Frederick C. Hobdy Assembly Center.
Ervin Mitchell poured in a game high 34 points while adding 11 rebounds and three steals. Mitchell has notched 30 points in two games this season.
Nigel Ribeiro ran the Tigers offense with seven assist, 20 points and three steals while Remond Brown chipped in with 20 points and Drake Wilks had 18 points. Wilks was 3-of-4 from long range, helping the Tigers improve to 4-6 on the season.

Dunkin’ Dogs’ McCree named state Player of Week

After posting two double-doubles this past week, Louisiana Tech redshirt senior Erik McCree was tabbed as the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
The first of the two came in an overtime loss to the Cal Bears in Berkeley with an 11-point, 11-rebound effort. With 17 seconds to go in regulation, he scored a driving layup that tied the game up at 57-57 and ultimately sent it into the extra frame.

Tech men defeat Alcorn State, 98-65

It was a triple threat for Louisiana Tech on Monday night as Erik McCree, Jacobi Boykins and Derric Jean each scored 20 points to lead the Bulldogs to a 98-65 victory over Alcorn State inside the Thomas Assembly Center.
For McCree, it was his third straight double-double as the redshirt senior had a game-high 11 rebounds. For Jean, it was a career high in points. And for Boykins, it was 5-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc.

Jones will be college HOF inductee tonight

From Archie Manning to Bobby Beathard, from Bill Bellchick to John Riggins.
And countless others who form a mutual admiration society for Bertram Hays Jones.
They will all approve of the Ruston native’s induction into the National Football Foundation/College Football Hall of Fame tonight during ceremonies at the famous Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City.

Agritourism brings visitors, income

Agritourism gives rural economies a boost in the fall. Because of mild weather conditions this year, many of our pumpkin patches, corn mazes and farm tours will extended their season into November giving guests an opportunity to visit more than once.
After Thanksgiving many families will returned to the farm again to shop for Christmas trees. Most of the farms have farm-related activities for the children to enjoy before or after shopping for their tree.

Celebration continues for GSU

It was nearly three years in the waiting, but the Grambling State University Tigers can now truly celebrate.
That’s because they captured a Southwestern Athletic Conference football championship on Saturday.
And now the festivities will continue as the win gave the Tigers a berth in the Celebration Bowl, in which GSU will take on Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference champion North Carolina at 11 a.m. Dec. 17 in the Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl in Atlanta.
