Park improvements

With the summer months almost over, James Ramsaur, director of the Lincoln Parish Park, is looking to make some improvements to the amenities offered at the park.
Among those improvements are the updating of five campsites.
“The sites 29-33 are the last five sites and they are on a hill so they get a lot of water down off the hill,” he said. “We are going to try to channel the water and enlarge them a little bit so they will be big enough for the camper.”
The next project will be installing tall gates along the beach to ensure the safety of visitors when lifeguards aren’t present.

City hit with two power outages

The outage affected more than 1,000 customers, he said. Power was restored shortly after noon.

More concerned with image than anything

Everyone has a breaking point. Cathy Hopkins reached hers last Monday.
Living on Lake D’Arbonne for seven years, Hopkins had driven past a site thousands of times where the Union Parish Police Jury put trash dumpsters on North Spillway Road. That morning, all five dumpsters were full, which she said was not uncommon. That trash had spilled out of the dumpsters onto the ground just off the roadway, she said, wasn’t uncommon either.
“I finally said this is enough,” Hopkins said.
