Residents in the Watertank Road area will be seeing improvements coming their way in the coming weeks.
The improvements are coming from the Louisiana Community Development Block Grant funding $600,000 for the area to have 17 water hydrants installed.
Henry Shuler, with Shuler Consulting Company, said the improvements were very needed in the area.
“The only hydrants were actually on Watertank Road,” he said. “This grant allows us to put water hydrants on First through Fourth Streets, and we will be redoing the water lines through there as well.”

Local advocates of legalizing the sale of raw milk say the issue is primarily one of giving consumers a choice.
“I bet you not a week goes by that somebody doesn’t ask us for milk,” Tom Faber, a Ruston dairy goat farmer, said.
But Faber can’t sell his goat’s milk. Neither can dairy cattle farmers sell their non-pasteurized whole milk. Selling raw milk is illegal in Louisiana.
