Keeping an eye out for cataracts

in
Degrie, Elizabeth (New).jpg

Earlier this summer, I learned something that to this day still blows my mind. My 15-year-old little cousin has cataracts on her eyes.
I’m not a stranger to cataracts. When I was about 15, my grandmother — who was in her early 60s at the time — had cataract surgery. It was pretty awesome for her because she was able to chuck the huge, grandma-sized bifocals that she’d worn my entire life. Louisiana Tech had 99 players report and hit the practice field Monday as Bulldogs began preseason workouts in preparation for the 2013 football season.
And new head coach Skip Holtz liked what he saw from his Bulldogs, although he realizes the first practice can sometimes be deceptive.
“Day one is always the most positive, most upbeat (practice),” Holtz said. “Everybody has been waiting for it for four months and a long summer. We will find out what the attitude and what everything is like when we get in the middle of two-a-days.
