Members of the Louisiana Tech University Chapter of Alpha Chi Omega present a check to Terrie Queen Autrey, Domestic Abuse Resistance Team community advocate, at the Dixie Center for the Arts.
The sorority sold 143 tickets to the DART Beatles Tribute Concert. They also played the part of screaming Beatles fans during the concert to add to the entertainment.

Hadnot adds to honors

Can this track and field season get much better for Trey Hadnot?
Well, it did last weekend.
After an outstanding indoor season, the former Ruston High School star turned in one of the most memorable performances in Louisiana Tech University history.
The junior sprinter/relay member won four — count them, four — gold medals at the 2013 Western Athletic Conference outdoor championship meet held in Arlington, Texas.
Hadnot won the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.49.
He was No. 1 in the 400-m dash at 46.52.

Ruston trio in prep golf tourney

MARKSVILLE — A trio of golfers from Ruston are among a star-studded field who will be in action starting today when Tamahka Trails Golf Club at Paragon Casino Resort plays host to the annual Louisiana Champions Invitational.
The tournament, which is sanctioned by the Louisiana High School Athletic Association as the official All-Star event for prep golfers, will consist of a 21-player field that includes Louisiana’s top high school golfers. Participants will be competing for $1,500 in scholarship funds in the boys’ and girls’ divisions.

Curry to guide Alabama

Kristy Curry has made another move in women’s basketball.
The former Louisiana Tech University assistant coach who has served for the past seven years at the helm of the Texas Tech University program has been chosen as the new head coach at the University of Alabama.
Curry guided the Lady Raiders to a 21-11 mark this past season which ended in a first-round loss to South Florida in the NCAA tournament.
She was 130-98 in her seven years at Texas Tech.

Bulldogs host NSU tonight

in

Louisiana Tech University will play the first of four final games on its 2013 baseball schedule at 6 p.m. tonight with a home meeting against Northwestern State University.
The Bulldogs (18-33, 6-17) have won three of their last four games, including twice last weekend at Western Athletic Conference foe Dallas Baptist University.
Tech earlier defeated Northwestern State University, 3-1, in Natchitoches.
The ’Dogs will host Texas-San Antonio in a WAC three-game series starting on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Tech baseball winds down

Fans of the Louisiana Tech University baseball program have one last chance to see their team in action this week.
Four games remain on the 2013 schedule and all will be at home starting with tonight’s 6 p.m. meeting against regional rival Northwestern State University at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park.
And then beginning on Thursday, the Bulldogs will apply the finishing mantle to their Western Athletic Conference slate with a three-game series against the University of Texas-San Antonio.
