The Lincoln Parish School Board met in Regular Session on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at 6:00 p.m. in the Board Room of the Lincoln Parish School Board Office, 410 South Farmerville Street, Ruston, Louisiana. Members present were Ms. Debbie Abrahm, Mr. Otha Anders, Mr. Michael Barmore, Ms. Lisa Best, Mr. Curtis Dowling, Mr. David Ferguson, Mr. Danny Hancock, Ms. Lynda Henderson, Mr. Trott Hunt, Mr. George Mack, Jr., Mr. Joe Mitcham, and Ms. Susan Wiley.

REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL

The City of Grambling is accepting Sealed Proposals from qualified vendors for one (1) each 2017 Chassis Garbage Truck with 25 Cubic Yard Rear Loader Packers. Sealed proposals will be received no later than 3:00pm, Friday, July 14, 2017 at the City of Grambling, (c/o Pamela Stringfellow, Municipal Clerk)127 Main Street, Grambling, Louisiana 71245. Proposals will not be accepted after the above date and time. A bid packet may be obtained from the City of Grambling, 127 King, Street, Grambling, Louisiana 71245. No Informational Conference / Pre-Proposal Meeting will be held.

Lott: ‘It’s a blessing from God’

Dustin Lott traveled across north Ruston this week to discover the 2017 Louisiana Peach Festival Peach Hunt prize Tuesday at the Rock Island Greenway and receive a $500 cash prize.
“It’s truly a blessing from God,” he said. “It’s just amazing.”
Lott, who moved to Lincoln Parish after marrying his wife, Megan, two years ago, said he, his wife and a good friend teamed up to put their heads together and “hunt the prize.”

Curtain rises on RCT’s ‘The Lion King Jr.’

The Ruston Community Theatre presents their second production of the year — “The Lion King Jr.” Above left is Rafiki, played by Anna Katherine Thompson. Right, Nala, played by Alma Moegle, and Simba played by Donovan Turpin, share a hug.
The show premiered Tuesday and will continue at 2 p.m. today and 7 p.m. Thursday at the DIxie Center for the Arts. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children.

Weather forces changes in Peach Fest

Louisiana Peach Festival events planned for outdoors Friday afternoon have been canceled and the evening concerts relocated in anticipation of excessive rainfall from Tropical Storm Cindy.
But festival planners are hoping at least some of the Saturday events can continue outdoors, Ruston-Lincoln Chamber of Commerce President Judy Copeland said this morning.
The festival is scheduled for Friday and Saturday. The Chamber of Commerce produces the annual event.

LSU set for CWS rematch vs. Florida St.

Tigers, Seminoles to meet in elimination game at 6 p.m. today

OMAHA, Nebraska — LSU attempts to reach the College World Series “Final Four” when the Tigers face Florida State at 6 p.m. today at TD Ameritrade Park.
The loser of the LSU-FSU game is eliminated from the CWS, and the winner advances to play Oregon State at 2 p.m. Friday. The winner of today’s game would have to defeat Oregon State on both Friday and Saturday in order to advance to the CWS Championship Finals.
