How does a family find time to connect? Family meals. I know what you’re saying, “we don’t have time to sit down to eat a meal together.” We are racing off to soccer practice, dance lessons, basketball games, attending meetings and catching up with friends.

Sloan sets example for student athletes

The goal of every great student-athlete is to achieve a high level of success in his or her sport as well as in the classroom.
Fittingly, Louisiana Tech soccer player Kathryn Sloan has scored that goal in a big way.
Last week Sloan was selected as the 2016 Academic All-America of the Year for Division I Women’s Soccer the College Sports Information Directors of America.

GSU’s Carter, LSU’s Guice honored

Grambling State’s Martez Carter, above left, has been named the Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s Special Teams Player of the Week while LSU running back Derrrius Guice, above right, is the LSWA Offensive Player of the Week for their efforts in wins over the holiday weekend. Guice rushed for a school-record 285 yards to go along with four touchdowns in LSU’s 54-39 win over Texas A&M.

Lady Techsters clash with ULM tonight

For the second time in 10 days, Louisiana Tech will play an Interstate-20 neighbor when the Lady Techsters travel 30 minutes east to face the University of Louisiana-Monroe at 6 p.m. today at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
Tech (2-2) and ULM (2-3) will meet for the 54th time in women’s basketball with the Lady Techsters leading the series 44-9, although the Warhawks won the last two meetings.
The two programs haven’t met since the 2007-08 season, when ULM won 72-51 in Ruston.

Holtz: ‘We have to move on and get ready’

Tech turns attention toward C-USA championship game at Western Kentucky

Louisiana Tech’s football team had the chance to host the Conference USA championship game with a win in the Bulldogs’ regular-season finale at Southern Mississippi on Friday.
But the Bulldogs saw their opportunity slip away in a 39-24 loss to the Golden Eagles.
Now Tech has to turn around and prepare to play at Western Kentucky at 11 a.m. Saturday in the C-USA title game.
