Sealed bids will be received by the Police Jury of Lincoln Parish until 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 5, 2017 in its office in the Courthouse, Ruston, Louisiana, for furnishing:
ITEM 1. ONE (1) CONVENTIONAL CHASSIS (WATER TRUCK) WITH TANK
Only bids submitted on Bid Forms will be accepted. Bid Forms and Specifications may be obtained from the office of the Lincoln Parish Police Jury, P.O. Box 979, Ruston, Louisiana 71273-0979. Bids can also be submitted electronically at WWW.CENTRALBIDDING.COM.
The Police Jury reserves the right to reject any or all bids for just cause.

REGULAR SESSION

The Village of Choudrant Zoning Commission will meet in Regular Session on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 6:30 PM. The meeting will take place at Village Hall, 3911 Elm Street. A Public Hearing will be held to consider amending Ordinance Number 65 of the Village of Choudrant (The “Zoning Ordinance”) to establish the B-8 Midtown Zoning District, delineating its boundaries, specifying land uses therein, and otherwise providing with respect thereto. All those interested in attending are welcome.

Tech welcomes medical illustrator to speak

Natalie Doolittle, director of medical animation at High Impact, Inc., will visit Louisiana Tech University on March 27 for a presentation titled, “Biomedical Visualization: Art Influencing Science and Medicine,” as part of the New Frontiers in Biomedical Research lecture series.
Doolittle’s lecture will take place at 3:30 p.m. in University Hall on the Louisiana Tech campus. The event is free and members of the campus and local communities are cordially invited to attend.

Homelessness in Ruston

Meeting set to gauge interest in building a local shelter

Luke Hockenjos knows what it’s like to be homeless. For seven months, he lived in the back of his truck in downtown Ruston.
Now Hockenjos has joined several other community residents in organizing a meeting to gauge interest in the possibility of opening a homeless shelter in Ruston. The meeting is set for 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the Community Room of Origin Bank, located at 1511 on North Trenton Street.
The meeting is open to the public.
The closest homeless shelters to Ruston are in Monroe and Shreveport.

Dixie looks forward to Wildwood Express

It’s looking like spring and that can mean only one thing. The biggest annual show at the historic Dixie Theater is on its way.
Mary Ann Woods and Travis Woods have been busy collecting the music for the iconic Wildwood Express Band and the singers who come from near and far to celebrate the life of Joe Woods and the music that was heard each week on the stage of the venue known today as Dixie Center for the Arts.
