Dogs rank high in batting

The California Bulldogs (43-16, 18-6) are No. 1 in the WAC and No. 31 in the nation with a .316 mark.
But not that far behind are their Bulldogs’ counterparts from Lincoln Parish. Tech ended up with a .311 mark that leaves them as the runner-up in the league and No. 53 in the NCAA’s current report.
“They have a bunch of good hitters,” noted Sacramento State head coach John Smith after his club dropped a 14-9 decision to Tech in the conference tournament.
“From top to bottom, they were consistent and they’ve got several of those guys back for next year.”

Thoughts of Holder-Barker

But it had a special meaning to me personally, too. It brought forth thoughts of the benefits of spending one’s life in the same profession and in the same place and the stability that offers to one’s family and one’s employer.
The last time I saw the statistics, I believe they indicated more and more people were choosing this lifestyle after many years of an increasingly mobile society.

Judge rules against Friedley lawsuit

Lewellyan was appointed to the case by the Louisiana Supreme Court when Third Judicial District’s three judges — R. Wayne Smith, Cynthia Woodard and J.B. McCallum — recused themselves.
After The Leader and The Morning Paper were removed from the suit, Lewellyan listened as Andy Shealy, attorney for the CVB, and Brady King, attorney for The News-Star and Nick Deriso argued for the motion to strike, with Cameron attempting to rebut their claims.
