Parish teams set scrimmages

The next evening, at the same time, Ruston High goes to Monroe to tangle with Richwood High.
Those scrimmages will be tune-ups for jamborees scheduled for the following week.
Grambling High is at the Sarepta jamboree on Aug. 23, Cedar Creek goes to Northwestern State’s Turpin Stadium on Aug. 24 to face Lakeview and Ruston High is in Monroe for “Bayou Jam” action against Ouachita on Aug. 25.
Regular season openers for all Louisiana High School Athletic Association member schools will be held during the weekend of Aug. 31/Sept. 1.

Diversity the main course

Architecture students were assigned the task of designing an interfaith center as a course project. The center was to be located behind Howard auditorium and would welcome students of any religion.
The idea of people belonging to one religion is a lost ideal. It also possesses dictatorial traits, not to mention that it would completely kill freedom of will. But having a place where all students belong to sounds unifying, in a non-authoritative way. This interfaith center could be a place where religion is no longer a barrier and where students can visit with the same purpose.

Grambling schools get new leaders

In formulating plans for Alma J. Brown this fall, Gregory said she hopes to improve academic achievement, develop student character and promote parental involvement by offering training and information sessions they can attend to better assist children in their education needs at home. More use of technology is another goal for this former teacher, counselor and principal from Texas.
