Just in time for local school children to be released from school for the holidays, the Lincoln Parish Library is kicking off “A Seussical Reading Adventure” today.
Much like the annual summer reading program, this program provides incentives to encourage students to read when they’re not in the classroom.
“We originally planned to start the program in January, but decided to move registration up to (today) so that the children will have time to read over Christmas break,” Holly Clement, with the LPL children’s department, said.

GRAMBLING — A Grambling State University senior from Choiseul, St. Lucia, seems to be starting off on the right track in achieving her educational and career pursuits. Although the road to her success was not always smooth, she reached her destination in style by becoming top of her graduating class.
Nadia Johnny, a marketing major, is the valedictorian of her fall 2014 graduating class. The university’s commencement was held at 10 a.m. today in the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center on the campus of GSU.

Spread love of reading this holiday season

This year during the holiday season, the Lincoln Parish Library is working to keep kids’ love of reading alive while they’re on school break.
The library has long hosted various summer reading programs that encourage children, teens and adults to crack open a book, and for the past couple of years they have also been encouraging children to read outside of the classroom during the school year with a reading program that typically starts in January.

Don't accept crimes against humanity

I want to say how concerned I am about the views expressed by Rich Lowry in a recent article. There are so many half-truths and omissions in this piece, it is as laughable as hearing Dick Cheney spewing his outright fascist-style propaganda from any and all FoxNews platforms.

Darden, Jessica 2014.jpg

I recently read a Facebook post that brought serious insight.
It stated, “Just a reminder to all you parents out there to be modest with your gifts from Santa. You know? Give something small from Santa and make the more expensive presents from you.
