Nell Lewis Dawsey

Graveside services for Nell Lewis Dawsey, age 92, of Ruston will be 12:30 PM Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia, MS. under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home. Mrs. Dawsey was born January 25, 1923 and passed away April 14, 2015. She worked as an RN Recovery Nurse at Lincoln General Hospital for 23 years.

Mrs. Dawsey is survived by her son: Bill Dawsey and wife Peggy of Ruston; grandsons: Cory Dawsey and wife Jennie of Ruston and Kelly Dawsey; great granddaughter: Eden Dawsey and numerous nieces and nephews.

James Staples

James Staples was born April 17, 1954 and departed this life on April 13, 2015 at the age of 60 after a brief illness. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00PM Friday , April 17 at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will be at Choudrant Memorial Cemetery.

He was retired from La. Tech as Supervisor of Grounds. James was a very avid LSU fan and he proudly represented them well.

Dr. Benjamin Cephas Baugh

Dr. Benjamin Cephas Baugh, 88, a lifelong resident of Ruston, passed away on April 9, 2015, following a lengthy illness. Dr. Baugh was born in Ruston, on September 23, 1926, to Emmett Edwin Baugh and Pauline Looney Baugh. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 34 years, Caroline Tyson Jones Baugh; two brothers, Lt. Col. William E. Baugh, Ruston, and Howard M. Baugh, Arlington, TX; and nephew, Bill Baugh of Savannah, GA.

Mr. Perry Donald Barmore

Funeral services for Mr. Perry Donald Barmore, age 82 of Dubach, will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday April 11, 2015 at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston. Rev. Greg Tipton and Rev. Doug White will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Mineral Springs Cemetery in Dubach under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston. Mr. Barmore was born November 12, 1932 in Lincoln Parish to Clifton and Eathel Barmore. He died at his home in Dubach April 8, 2015.

Lessie Ruff Cason

Lessie Ruff Cason, 91, of Ruston went to be with the Lord on April 6 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Myrtle Jones Ruff, sister, Millie Bonner and husband, Robert L. (Bob) Cason. A longtime resident of Ruston, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved each member of her family unconditionally. She was a great encourager who, along with her husband, taught her children the value of faith in God and the love of life, family and friends.

Brenda Rose “Penny” Knowles Ford

Funeral services for Brenda Rose “Penny” Knowles Ford, 72, of Choudrant will be held 2:00 PM Monday, April 6, 2015 at First Baptist Church Choudrant. Officiating the services will be Bro. David Harrell. Interment will follow at Choudrant Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston.

Mrs. Ford was born February 7, 1943 and passed away April 3, 2015.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Choudrant and worked as a mail carrier for the US Postal service.

Robert Osborne

A Celebration of Life Service for Robert Osborne, 66, of Shreveport, formerly of Grambling, will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 4, 2015, at Church at Red River in Shreveport, La. Burial will follow at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery.  Public Viewing is scheduled on Friday, April 3, 2015 from noon to 8:00 p.m. at Good Samaritan Funeral Home, 2200 Laurel St., Shreveport, LA.  Mr. Osborne was born May 9, 1948 and passed away March 24, 2015.

Charles Wates Bussey

Charles Wates Bussey, Jr., 80, of Clemson, SC died on April 2, 2015. Charlie was born in Woodruff, SC, on October 11, 1934, and was the son of Charles Wates Bussey, Sr. and Mary Frances Drennan Bussey. 

Charlie graduated from Henderson High School and Clemson University with a degree in Textile Manufacturing.  As quarterback of the Clemson team, Charlie led the Tigers to the 1957 Orange Bowl. His honors included Academic All-American and All-ACC. In addition, he was an Outstanding Military Graduate, a member of Tiger Brotherhood and Blue Key, and graduated with academic honors.

Mildred Ardatha Hall

Mildred Ardatha Hall, age 75 of Ruston, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Alpine Guest Care in Ruston. She was born June 7, 1939 in Alexandria. A memorial service for Mrs. Hall will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, April 4, 2015 at University Baptist Church in Ruston. She grew up in Alexandria, attended Bolton High School and graduated from Louisiana College with a degree in Education.

Cecil Holstead

Cecil Holstead of Port Neches, Texas died March 31, 2015 at the age of 97. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, his wife of nearly 74 years, Katie Holstead and his youngest daughter, Jo Beth Williams. He is survived by his older daughters, Joyce Haese of Choudrant, Louisiana and Cecile Holstead of Port Neches. Other survivors include 8 grandchildren, 22 great- grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
