Every now and again, teachers become the students.
That was the case for more than 50 Lincoln Parish School coaches as they had to do a little bit of exercise as well.
In a partnership with the Louisiana Tech University Department of Kinesiology, Kindergarten through 12th grade Lincoln Parish coaches worked with professors in a program that taught coaches safety, nutrition, exercise methods, leadership and different training exercise.
Tech Assistant Professor of Kinesiology Braden Romer said the program began as a component of the Lincoln Parish professional development plan.
The Fourth of July weekend was pretty uneventful in Lincoln Parish in a good way. Other than a few arrests for Driving While Intoxicated and fires caused by fireworks, there were no major incidents.
But other parishes were not so fortunate. Just up the road in Union Parish, a Downsville man was killed in a one-vehicle crash on Bridges Road on July 4. According to state police, the driver collided with a tree and was partially ejected from the Toyota pickup.
