Have any of you ever cringed at the time when a particular person was called upon to pray? No, I don’t mean that the speaker would say anything inappropriate or you wondered about the choice of the person about to invoke blessings. I am talking about that person, who would be, shall we say, verbose. Wordy. Leeeennnnnggggttthhhyyyy. You know the type. He or she would make a sermon out of a prayer. The person would, as a comparison, when asked what time it was tell you how to make a watch.
T-minus 17 days and counting — until the April 21 tax referendum, that is.
On the ballot: two public school property tax millage renewals, one sheriff’s department property tax millage renewal, and a quarter-cent sales tax proposal that would generate new money for the sheriff’s office.
What’s that you say? Haven’t heard a whole bunch in depth about any of this except perhaps the sales tax, which has become the star of the show? Not surprising. There’s a strategic reason for that.
