Kathy Shipp, supervisor of special education, said at a Lincoln Parish School Board meeting last month that there are 948 preschool through 12th grade students enrolled in the special education program, which is down 80 children from the 2011-12 school year. That number includes students in the gifted/talented program. The system serves 640 students with disabilities, which is down from 700 for the 2011-12 school year.

After two weeks of hard work and practice, the Ruston High School Band showcased what they learned Friday at the band’s 2013-14 Sneak Peak. On the practice field, the band gave those in attendance a preview of what to expect throughout the year, including numbers from the pregame and away shows.
