The gift of literacy
United Way of Northeast Louisiana kicked off its 2011 campaign Wednesday at Glen View Elementary School.
The campaign introduced the organization’s commitment to help more children graduate from high school by increasing the number of children reading on grade level by third grade.
Area community members volunteered their time to read the book “Clifford’s Good Deeds” to second grade classrooms at the school. BancorpSouth donated the book to all second grade students who were part of the kick-off campaign event.
