Emile Frey, New Tech @ Ruston science teacher, was recently honored as a finalist in the 2012 Teacher Innovator Awards. Sponsored by PBS LearningMedia and The Henry Ford, the competition invited preschool through 12th grade educators to share ideas and videos showcasing how they were engaging students with PBS and On Innovation resources and innovative ideas to reinforce 21st century learning skills.
Ten community leaders have joined forces to kick off a new initiative for Domestic Abuse Resistance Team. The founding members of "Men Standing Strong" — men who make a public stand against domestic violence and pledge their support to DART in its efforts provide support to families struggling with abuse — met this week at Community Trust Bank. LifeCare Holdings, Inc., a nationwide system of hospitals that specializes in the treatment of medically complex patients who require extended hospitalization, has completed its purchase of a Ruston specialty hospital and its remote locations in Homer and Farmerville.
Each of the hospitals will now be known as LifeCare Specialty Hospital of North Louisiana.
Collectively, the three hospitals total more than 100,000 square feet and offer 70 beds.
