Runners turn out to raise money for cancer society

Adam Carlisle, 15, of Shreveport, finished first with a time of 18 minutes, 44 seconds in the 5K that wound through Squire Creek. He found out about the race through Butler, who was his cross country track coach at C.E. Byrd High School.

“I feel great,” Carlisle said. “It was a hard course, but I think I handled it pretty good. There were a lot of up hills, but you got to go back down them at the end. I was ready for (the hills) so when everyone was tired, I was ready.”

He also said he thought having a race to raise money was a good idea.
