Police Jury plans first trash megasite

Juror Bobby Dowling reported during a Solid Waste and Recycling Committee meeting earlier Tuesday that preliminary studies estimated it would cost approximately $50,000 to set up each site. Included in the amount was land purchase, fencing, lighting and placing rock on the surface.

“We’re looking at two sites right now,” Dowling told committee members.

But Jury vice president Joyce Huntington recommended the jury experiment on land it already owned before spending any money to purchase additional land.
