Holiday party for parish
Due to ethics considerations, the Lincoln Parish Police Jury has abandoned its long-standing practice of collecting business donations to help fund the annual Christmas party for parish employees and their spouses, as well as jurors.
Each December, a large gathering is held, including entertainment and food. Parish Administrator Courtney Hall notes that the parish is not permitted to use public funds to help pay for the party. Hence, it is funded by two means. First, police jurors, who are paid $875 per month, volunteer to have some monies deducted from their monthly checks to go toward the cause. The second means has traditionally been by individual police jurors soliciting financial contributions from businesses.
