Courthouse planning on move
When the Lincoln Parish Police Jury purchased the old County Market building for $1.5 million in 2009, some might have wondered why.
Were they going into the rental business? The jury purchased the building with a loan from Community Trust Bank, which would be paid off over a nine-year period using money from businesses leasing the building.
The jury hit a little bit of a snag in 2010 when the corporate Movie Gallery filed for bankruptcy and the local movie store packed up and vacated the space, leaving the jury with less rent money revenue to pay off the loan.
