With that phase of the five-phase construction plan along the I-20 corridor complete, Love said it would soon be time to begin work on Phases II and III.

The Department of Transportation received two bids for work on the South Service Road between Vienna Street and Louisiana 33 — Phase II — and both came in under the engineer’s estimation of $6.4 million.

“D&J Construction Co. placed a bid of $5.5 million, while James Construction Co. placed a bid of $5 million,” Love said. “Since DOTD let the bid they will decide who the contractor will be.”
