Better integrating the schools
As we observe Black History Month, it’s a time to not only look back at decades past, but to more closely scrutinize where we are going.
Around 60 years ago, segregation flourished. Blacks and whites in America had separate restrooms, water fountains and schools.
Then came the desegregation order, and after a few decades, everyone who is not drinking bottled water is using the same fountains, and the bathrooms are open to everyone.
