Simsboro shoots down sales tax
Six months ago, the proposal lost at the polls by a mere 12 votes. On Saturday, it was voted down by just eight votes. The unofficial return from the Louisiana Secretary of State’s Web site (www.sec. state.la.us/) showed 53 votes against the tax (54 percent) compared to 45 for (46 percent).
Simsboro Mayor Woodie Pritchett and the Board of Aldermen supported the tax, but Alderman Shane Dooley said most people don’t support new taxes.
