Local resident recalls cancer battle
In 2004, Sharon Ellis found herself to be one of an estimated 10,800 women diagnosed each year with cervical cancer.
“This was devastating to me,” Ellis said. “I had just had my yearly checkup three months prior, and it came back normal. I was thinking this happens to other people, it can’t be happening to me.”
Ellis was diagnosed with Stage 3 cervical cancer. She shared the news with those closest to her.
