KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Louisiana Tech soccer team is at the midway point of the 2015 fall season, but on Wednesday the Lady Techsters were recognized by the NSCAA for earning the College Team Academic Award for the 2014-15 academic year.
This marks the seventh time in the last eight years that head coach Kevin Sherry’s program has received this honor.
Tech ended up being one of 554 women’s collegiate soccer teams which posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
A regular season game alone between Ruston High and West Monroe is enough to rev up major excitement for their fans.
But a playoff showdown?
That takes the enthusiasm mode to an even greater level, just as it will be tonight when the Bearcats (24-9) and Rebels (20-13) square off in a 6 p.m., Class 5A first-round Louisiana High School Athletic Association playoff contest at the RHS diamond.
Louisiana Tech University’s big play receiver has a big honor.
Quinton Patton, a junior wideout who averaged nearly 95 receiving yards per game for the Western Athletic Conference champs this season, was announced today as the Newcomer of the Year on the 2011 All-Louisiana collegiate squad chosen by members of the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
The LaVernge, Tenn., product played a major role in the Bulldogs having one of their best seasons ever with an 8-4 regular season mark, outright league title and berth in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl.
