Transitioning to grade school
The other day, my niece, Adrienne, went to school for the very first time. Luckily — because I know I would have cried in public — I was not able to attend this momentous occasion.
The first day was a little rough. After settling Adrienne into her classroom, and bravely walking away from the crying child, my sister had to skip out on the school’s Boo-Hoo Breakfast to go have a little cry herself in the car. Adrienne is the first born — definitely a “mama’s girl.” The separation anxiety was equally painful for the two of them.
