Fire control is taxing work
Suddenly, a stranger comes out of nowhere, putting out the fire and whisking you away to safety.
Standing up to the formidable flames that terrify most people is just one of many jobs in the typical day of a Lincoln Parish fireman. These men in heavy clothing and hard hats also throw in services such as public education, trench rescue, high angle rescue, containment of chemical spills and vehicle extrications. In 2006 alone, the Lincoln Parish Fire District extinguished 58 structure fires and 142 grass fires and relieved a handful of citizens in crisis through rescue efforts.
