Rogers, Blackburn unite in matrimony
Erin Elizabeth Rogers, of Ruston, and Michael Jared Blackburn, of Arlington, Texas, were united in matrimony in a 7 p.m. ceremony Nov. 10 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Ruston. The double-ring ceremony was officiated by Deacon Larry Vines.
Erin is the daughter of Steve and Julie Rogers, of Ruston, and she is the granddaughter of Sandra Belaire, of Ruston, Ron and Beverly Cook, of Lafayette, and the late Aubrey and Margie Rogers.
Michael is the son of Tom and Brenda Blackburn, of Arlington, Texas, and he is the grandson of Tom Blackburn, of Wichita Falls, Texas, Virginia Steele, of Fort Worth, Texas, the late Wanda Blackburn and the late Cleatus Steele.
Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a feminine, mermaid silhouette Maggie Sottero design of corded lace on Point d’ Espirit tulle. The corset back closure sparkled with a subtle array of delicate beading. The hourglass, empire waist design featured delicate scalloping at the neckline and hem.
Attending as matron of honor was Kristi Griffin, of Birmingham, Ala., Lindsey Avinger, of Richardson, Texas, Molly Lebrun, of Shreveport, Anna Beth Godfrey, of Nashville, Tenn., Katherine Stephens, of Monroe, Hannah Ruffennach, of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Julie Koacev, of Pearland, Texas, served as bridesmaids.
The bridesmaids wore a plum, chiffon Bill Levkoff gown that featured a ruched criss-cross bodice with a softly gathered skirt. Accentuating the gowns were long chiffon sashes that draped over the shoulder, falling to the floor.
Serving as best man was Justin Ruffennach, of Grand Prairie. Matthew Lopez, of Dallas, Clay King, of Pflugerville, Texas, Justin Afkhami, of Ellenton, Fla., Brad Walker, of Mansfield, Texas, Andy Friedl, of Houston, Texas, and Michael Rogers, of Norco served as groomsmen.
Adam Rogers, of Haughton, Kyle Luker, of Ruston, Alan Wallace, of Keller, Texas, and Cleatus Steele, of Arlington, served as ushers.
Hailey Kovacev, of Pearland, Texas, served as junior bridesmaid, while Hunter Kovacev, also of Pearland, served as junior groomsman.
Honorary attendants were Emily Porter, of Minden, and Harper Neal, of Ruston. Readers were John Stephens, of New Orleans, and Audrey Steele, of Arlington.
Music was provided by vocalists Jessica Steele, of Keller, Texas, and Dave St. Andre, of Ruston, pianist Shayla Blake, violinist Ildiko Lusk and the trumpet was played by Randall Sorenson.
Prior to the wedding a rehearsal supper was hosted by Thomas and Brenda Blackburn at 102 a Bistro on Nov. 9.
After the ceremony a reception was held at Squire Creek Country Club.
Events honoring the couple took place leading up to the ceremony included an engagement party on Aug. 4 at Buddy and Jennifer Terzia’s home. The event was hosted by Phillip and Alnita Carroll, India and Danny Carroll, Scott and Tammy Coates, Bryan and Suzanne Cook, Rusty and Cathy Critselous, Randy and Sally Graham, Bill and Kelly Hogan, Burt and Danni Jones, Jim and Karen Johnson, Jack and Ginny Love, Matt and Ellen Massey, Diane McNabb, Paul and Kim McCormack, Drake and Ann Marie Mills, Tommy and Janet Phillips, Robert and Barbara Sharp, Gray and Susan Stephens, Cliff and Carol Strider, Tom and Martha Sumrall and Scott and Rita Thompson.
On Sept. 15, a couples party was given in Dallas, Texas. Hosting the event were Justin and Erika Afkhami, Patrick and Lindsey Avinger, Andy and Diane Friedl, Clay and Kim King, Clint and Molly Lebrun, Matthew Lopez, Marisa McGaughey, Justin and Hannah Ruffennach, and Brad and Kristen Walker.
A bridal shower was given on Sept. 22 at Bobbie Dyer’s Home. Hosting the event were Pat Gillium, Alice Higgbotham, Marcia Nealy, Carolyn Peace and Jodi Wood.
After a honeymoon to Antigua, the couple will make their home in Spring, Texas.
