Taking a fiscal cliff dive
Following my high-school graduation in 1966, I was invited by my childhood friend Johnny Armstrong to travel with his family for a near, three-week driving vacation across Mexico. What a way to discover the countryside.
We made our way to Monterrey, through the “rain forest” of central Mexico, into Mexico City and south to Acapulco. At this time Acapulco was years ahead of Puerto Vallarta and Cozumel as Mexico’s premier beach resort.
International jet-setters were frequent visitors and some of the world’s most beautiful sun bathers adorned Acapulco’s white beaches.
