Questions about mysterious citrus trees

Along with the increased plantings of citrus trees in the area over the past several years, inquiries about certain thorny, citrus trees with large lemon-like fruit have been coming to my office. In the last two weeks I have had two samples of the unknown lemon tree brought in for identification. This is easy.  The tree in question is the trifoliate orange (Poncirus trifoliate)
