Ex-Grambling grid star Robinson passes away
GRAMBLING — Former Grambling State University football star Jerry Robinson, whose quickness and speed earned him the nickname of “The Ghost,” passed away Sunday morning at the age of 73.
The Jonesboro native excelled as a running back/receiver for the Tigers of the late Eddie Robinson from 1959-62 before going on to a four-year career in the now defunct American Football League with the San Diego Chargers (1962-64) and New York Jets (1965).
Robinson was picked in round No. 11 by the Chicago Bears in 1962 before being traded to the Chargers.
