Smoke detector giveaway continues in rural Lincoln Parish
Ruston Fire Department Public Education Officer Jerry Lewis pledged in February that his department’s intent was to see a smoke detector installed in the home of every senior and handicapped citizen in the parish.
“We’re going to give those out to senior citizens all over the parish,” Lewis said. “Any senior that needs one will get one.”
Smoke detectors will also be given to people with disabilities or special needs, regardless of age, and others to people on fixed incomes, Lewis said.
