It’s a “B” and a “Top Gain School” for The Downsville Charter School.
There is reason for celebration in Downsville. The Louisiana Department of Education has awarded Downsville Charter School a letter grade of “B,” which represents an extraordinary improvement from nearly a “D” school to a solid “B.” This higher rating is a strong indication of the quality of education provided at DCS. Additionally, the school has been named a “Top Gain School” because the school performance score has increased 16.8 points from last year.
One former Louisiana Tech University football kicker understands all too well the steps of success.
“I tell my players, ‘You crawl before you walk and walk before you run,’” former Bulldog Matt Nelson said. “I’m also preaching, it’s about quality not quantity. I think that’s important for them to know to be successful.”
Nelson played for Tech from 2009-12 and tried out for National Football League teams the Cleveland Browns and the New England Patriots.
