Grambling students and faculty visited the Caddo Correctional Center in Shreveport on Oct. 26, delivering the final installment of books collected as part of the Psychology and Sociology Club’s HBCU Book Drive Challenge, which took place in the fall of 2015.
The Book Drive Challenge was a friendly competition among several HBCUs with the intent of collecting books for distribution to local jails and prisons.
The Psychology and Sociology Club’s efforts were so successful, having collected more than 2,000 books, that it took them almost a full year to distribute them.
The Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors and the Contractors Educational Trust Fund have made donations totaling more than $362,000 to Louisiana Tech University in support of the construction engineering technology program in the College of Engineering and Science.
Representatives of these and supporting organizations visited Ruston last week to present Tech President Les Guice with the gift during a ceremony in his office in Wyly Tower on the Tech campus.
The Bossier Parish Community College Theatre Program and Cavalier Players will hold auditions for Hamilton Deane and John L. Balderston’s “Dracula” at 7 p.m. today and Tuesday in the BPCC Performing Arts Theatre, Building C on the BPCC campus, 6220 E. Texas St. in Bossier City.
