Blachier, Upshaw unite in matrimony

Hannah Leigh Blachier, of Ruston, and Thomas Wade Upshaw, of Simsboro, were united in matrimony in a 5:30 p.m. ceremony Feb. 9 at Trinity United Methodist Church. Officiating the double–ring ceremony was Brian Mercer.

Hannah is the daughter of Todd and Marilyn Blachier, of Wausau, Wis., and the granddaughter of Doug and Joanne Maulden, of Ruston, Carol Blachier, of Mandeville, and the late Charles Blachier.

Wade is the son of Wayne and Debra Upshaw, of Simsboro, and the grandson of Bonnie Wiltcher, of Arcadia, John and Polly Bowers, of West Monroe, Dora Hall, of Ruston, and the late Thomas Upshaw.

Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a diamond white floor-length gown with a sweetheart neckline. The gown featured re-embroidered lace with rhinestones, crystal beading and sequins, with flowered lace on the bust and down through the waist, a corset back and layered skirt. The bride also wore a white veil with rhinestone embellishments. The bride carried white flowers with shades of purple placed throughout.

Amanda Roth Speights, of Ruston, served the bride as matron of honor. Brittany Taunton, of Ruston, Ashley Fallin, of Arcadia, Jessica Lilly, of Ruston, Karen Triplett, of Mandeville, Lauren Robst, of Raleigh, N.C., and Jessica Larison, of Arcadia, served as bridesmaids.

Each bridesmaid wore a satin, wisteria floor length gown with a strapless neckline with a fitted waist. Each bridesmaid carried an arrangement of flowers consisting of different shades of purple with greenery.

Wayne Upshaw, of Simsboro, served the groom as best man, while Hunter Pickett, of Simsboro, Nick Craighead, of Ruston, Jordan Blachier, of Ruston, Hunter Bennett, of Ruston, and Bobby Joe Larison, of Arcadia, served as groomsmen.

Ring bearer duties where fulfilled by Bryce Larison, of Arcadia. Jennifer Carter provided the music.

Jeannine Elawadi, of Ruston, Candice Vasquez, of West Monroe, and Roslyn Robst, of Cary, N.C., served as greeters and readers in the ceremony.

Prior to the wedding ceremony, Debra and Wayne Upshaw gave a rehearsal dinner at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 8 at the Historic Fire House in Ruston.

After the wedding ceremony, a reception was held at the Ruston Country Club.

In honor of the couple, several showers were given leading up to the wedding ceremony.

On Oct. 27, a bridal shower was given at the home of Meredith Whitaker, where she, Polly Durrett, Amy Green, Kristie Frasier, Kaye Rabb and Jennifer Martin served as hostesses.

On Oct. 28. Debi Hauser, Diane Dablow and Betty Sheller also hosted a bridal shower at Hauser’s home.

On Dec. 1, the bridesmaids hosted a bridal shower at the Ruston Country Club.

A miscellaneous shower was give at the home of Yvone Craft on Dec. 2. The women of the Presbyterian Church of Ruston hosted the event.

On Dec. 7, a tool shower was given at the home of Wayne Upshaw, where he and Stetson Perkins served as hosts.

On Dec. 8, a couples’ shower was given at the home of Megan and Mitchell Best, where Megan, Donna Williams, Shelby Williams, Ashley Cripps and Dora Hall served as hosts.

After a honeymoon on a Western Caribbean Cruise, the couple will make their home in Ruston.
