March has roared in, bringing windy and cold conditions. We can only hope the saying “If March comes in like a lion, it will go out like a lamb” is true and the month will end warm and sunny.

March is such a changeable month, with warm spring-like weather mixed with cold and windy conditions. Plant protection is usually necessary this time of year. High winds and a warm sun on cold days result in plant damage through desiccation (evaporative water loss exceeds water absorption). This is the drying out of the plant.
