Throughout the month of March, women are honored for their contributions to history. This year, the focus has been on women in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math.

Locally, there are a number of women who have had a profound impact in the STEM careers, and among them are several teachers.

Aquanetta Archangel, a math teacher at I.A. Lewis, is one of those women. She has been a sixth-grade teacher for four years and was named as the I.A. Lewis Teacher of the Year, as well as runner up for the Lincoln Parish Teacher of the Year.
