Funeral services for Ernest C. Smith, 87, will be held on April 2, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Arcadia. Officiating will be Rev. Jerry Martin, pastor of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Saline.  Burial will follow at the New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Arcadia.

Ernest was born on July 19, 1925, in Saline, Louisiana and passed away on March 30, 2013, in Arcadia.  He was a graduate of Saline High School and a long-time resident of Arcadia. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, and was very active in church ministries, serving as a deacon for many years.  His hobbies included gardening, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Harvey Smith; his mother, Julia Smith; his wife of 60 years, Margaret Smith; and his daughter, Louise Tawwatters. Left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Eddie Smith and wife Angie; and Marty Smith and wife Judy.  He also leaves behind ten grandchildren, numerous great and great, great grandchildren and many other family and friends who will miss him greatly. Pallbearers will be Phillip Smith, Clint Smith, Joshua Smith, Tyler Smith, Mark Collins, and Ronald Tawwatters.
