Bush touts social security reform
The president told a packed Centenary Gold Dome crowd that social security has worked — in the past. But he cautioned that increasing costs would cause the social security trust to go broke by 2018 — if no changes are made.
"In 1950, there were 16 workers working to pay for one retiree's benefits," Bush said. "Today, it takes 3.3 workers for each retiree; in 20 years it will take two workers for each retiree."
