Storm rips through Ruston Wednesday
“There were no wires down but we had a lot — 18 incidents — of power losses,” Superintendent of Ruston City Utilities Zach Spivey said.
“Six transformers burned up due to lightning. Fourteen customers were without power for three hours, and five others were without power for an hour and a half.”
Most of the power failures were transformers and blown fuses and none of the transformers that blew out had lightening arresters, Spivey said.
They were replaced with transformers with lightning arresters.
