Fla. man dies in I-20 accident
A Florida man has died and several other people were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 in Lincoln Parish.
Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers responded to the crash at about 3 p.m. Friday. The investigation revealed that a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban was traveling east on I-20 in the inside lane, at about milepost 97, overtaking a 2002 GMC truck pulling a livestock trailer. For unknown reasons, the driver of the Suburban abruptly swerved to the right and struck the GMC. Both vehicles then ran off the south side of the road and entered the tree line.
The Suburban struck several trees before coming to rest. The front seat passenger of the Suburban, identified as 51-year-old William “Tim” Harris from Niceville, Fla., was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lincoln Parish Coroner’s Office. The 16-year-old driver of the Suburban was transported to the LSU-Shreveport hospital with critical injuries.
