Long-distance running beneficial
There’s something admirable about long-distance runners. Beyond their impressive physiques they possess a quality that many don’t — extreme self-control. Being able to run for 30 uninterrupted minutes doesn’t happen overnight. It takes an almost religious dedication, plenty of sweat and being able to mentally transcend physical discomfort.
Although it sounds unrelentingly grueling, long-distance running intrigues me, and I’m tempted to test my grit (or to punish my inner weakling) by training for a 5K run. In my opinion, there are more than a few good reasons to start a running regimen.
High on my list of reasons to run is for self-discipline. To set a challenging goal that requires ultimate dedication and then to meet that goal can be life changing. Overcome what appears to be a formidable obstacle, and you will change your perspective about what you can and cannot achieve in life.
