Locals react to power credits
Thousands of residential and commercial Ruston power customers saw lower electric bills this month.
This is thanks to a one-time credit to their power bills as part of a lawsuit settlement with Entergy for an overcharge that took place between 1991-2007. City of Ruston officials had first hoped to credit each customer with the amount they were overcharged. When this proved a near impossible undertaking, they opted to instead credit each power customer’s July bill with the amount of electric charges on their bill received in June.
Louisiana Tech University student Logan Dugard did not live in a Ruston residence until about a year ago. Although he was not among those who were overcharged, he is grateful to reap the benefits of the credit for his bill, which totaled about $140 last month.
